A new apartment complex is slated to be built near the Florida Mall.
Plans were filed June 14 for a 328-unit apartment complex on about 15 acres on Taft Vineland Road, according to Orange County records. The project, dubbed Grande Lakes III in renderings, will be north of Central Florida Parkway and west of South John Young Parkway. The complex is expected to feature seven apartment buildings situated around a couple of ponds.
An apartment complex of that size could cost about $54.1 million to build, according to industry standards.
Atlanta-based Wood Partners LLC is the developer, and Maitland-based Charlan Brock & Associates Inc. is the architect, according to records. Orlando-based Kelly Collins & Gentry Inc., an engineering and planning consulting firm, also is on the development team.
The new project shows the demand in Orlando’s multifamily asset class, which is driven in part by the city’s strong population and job growth. Orlando regularly ranks among the top 10 fastest-growing cities in the U.S. In 2017. The City Beautiful’s population grew by 2.41 percent last year, and its jobs grew by 3.47 percent, ranking it the fourth fastest-growing city in the U.S., according to Forbes.
